Conservation Ambassadors’ Zoo to You is a nonprofit rescue zoo, committed to giving a worldwide voice to wildlife by providing a permanent, loving home for displaced, abused, abandoned, or permanently injured wild and exotic animals. Touching the hearts of all ages with our educational outreach programs and our private encounters, people have the rare opportunity to learn about conservation and fall in love with our animals through up close, personal interactions, therefore connecting them with wildlife and inspiring them to protect our planet.
HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION
Through interactions with the public. Traveling to schools all across California to talk with children about our animals and what we can do to save them and their habitats out in the wild. Our private encounters are a once in a lifetime hands on experience where small groups get to visit us here at the zoo and have a unique connection with our animal ambassadors. We do our best to make this a life changing experience for our guests and animals.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Clean and maintains animal habitat areas
- Prepare diets and feed wildlife
- Traveling with animals to different venues performing educational presentations
- Participate in our educational encounters with guest who come visit our zoo
- Reinforce trained behavior
- Provide daily enrichment to animals
- Provide public with information and answer questions regarding wildlife
- Administer prescribed medication and nutritional supplements
- Observe wildlife and report any unusual behavior
- Train wildlife to be animal ambassadors
- Handle wildlife
- Maintain effective communication with staff and supervisors
- Collaborate with team to create common husbandry goals
- Model the zoos image and code of professional ethics at all times
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Resourceful – Understanding of, or has the ability to, research all applicable topics as they relate to modern zoological management, operations of an attraction and customer service.
- Trainers who have a passion for conservation and drive to help animals thrive.
- Flexible – Ability to handle a flexible workload with a variety of assignments while also maintaining composure in an environment that can be stressful.
- Independent – Must be able to operate independently, exercise initiative, and demonstrate capacity for detail and follow-up.
- Self motivated
- Positive – Must be a positive, effective team member and be able to establish professional working relationships.
- Clear communication skills, both verbal and written
- Critical thinking- Ability to make decisions while under pressure or solve complex problems that arise on a daily basis
- Innovative – Ability to propose solutions to areas of concern as related to animal care.
- Efficient- Ability to complete tasks in a thorough but quick manner.
- Customer–oriented – Must be able to exercise professional customer service skills at all times, with many different types of people and all situations
EXPERIENCE
- 2+ years of experience working with animals
- Public speaking
- Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology, Animal Science, Animal Management, or other related field preferred
- Current valid CA drivers license
- Experience managing volunteers and intern prefered
JOB DETAILS
Full time 40+ hours a week
Starting at $18/hourly’
