Melanie “Lanie” Angeles
Often referred to as “Kangaroo Lanie”, Melanie began her career working for Los Angeles Unified School District in Special Education with a background in Environmental Biology from California State University Northridge. She went on to America’s Teaching Zoo at Moorpark College and earned degrees in Animal Behavior, Wildlife Education, and Exotic Animal Training and Management.
Her first encounter with Conservation Ambassadors was in 2000 during the filming of the Animal Planet series “Moorpark 24/7”. Shortly thereafter she began managing the Los Angeles based chapter of the company, known as “Wildlife on Wheels”. Upon consolidation of the “Zoo to You” and “Wildlife on Wheels” outreach programs, Lanie relocated to the beautiful Conservation Ambassadors sanctuary in Paso Robles, California.
Kangaroo Lanie has been highlighted on the television program Career Day and on Pets.TV as a professional wildlife educator. Through school assembly programs and personal encounters she is working to educate, inspire, and empower a generation to protect and conserve our wild planet.
“If I can make a difference in the life of another, human or animal, I have succeeded.” -Kangaroo Lanie
